We have been doing fixed fees for stages of the work in our divorce practice for years so this is nothing new .
However :-
some clients still prefer timed bills &
you have to have a fall back position in case the case goes short (or they reconcile ! )&
and LeO have just ruled in a case we are involved in that the client can ask for a breakdown of costs in a fixed fee case even if they have already paid and are outside the time for an assessment under the Solicitors Acts , apparently without any time limit .
