Dominic Cooper I think there is a great deal of truth in what you have to say. I by no means agree with 'commercial entities' providing legal services, but I completely agree that it should be one way or the other. The 7, 8 or 9 years of 'training' of solicitors which you mention means nothing really to the average client - unless you MAKE it mean something by only allowing properly qualified people to do the job.

AS AN EXPERIENCED SOLICITOR IN GENERAL PRACTICE MOSTLY DEALING WITH NON CONTENTIOUS WORK, IF I WERE TO TAKE DOWN THE WORD 'SOLICITOR' FROM MY OFFICE AND REPLACE IT WITH THE WORD 'LAWYER' I DO NOT THINK I WOULD LOSE A SINGLE CLIENT AND I WOULD ALSO BE RID OF ALL THE CHAINS, BUREAUCRATIC RUBBISH AND EXTREME COSTS WHICH SOLICITORS HAVE TO ENDURE - but that would also mean giving in to these morons!
