No, the firm in question has long history in using any excuse to withhold payrises, even in the good times. They paid high wages to people coming in from the outside, but were very reluctant to offer wage rises to people who had been promoted internally, even though they were doing the same job, to the same level.

They end up losing a lot of good people that that way, but hey ho, that the way they have chosen to run their firm.

And no, the lack of support was not due to "partners ensuring the firms survival", it was simply down to poor management, non investment in systems and taking too much work on. I still have some very good friends at that Firm and funnily enough a year on, nothing has changed.
