The SRA should be very worried indeed about these last two posts from Gillian Mather and Anon 8.39. But the really worrying thing is that it isn't.

Small practices such as these are often a vital part of the backbone of any community and they are being regulated out of existence. Until, say, 1975, they were very common in rural and indeed urban areas. Soon people from, say, Holyhead in NW Wales will have to travel to Chester or Liverpool for access to legal services. That will involve them in a round trip of over two hundred miles. And even if they can afford the train fare they are unlikely to be able to afford the legal fees of the 'big beasts' when they get there.

Sad, very sad. RIP sole practitioners. You have existed for 100 s of years, but the SRA et alios are determined you are to become extinct. The only consolation is that life is infinitely better outside the law.
