Too true. I was asked to have an abortion (jokingly apparently!!) with my first child. I was the first solicitor in the district to have a child. My second, I think I was the first solicitor in the organisation to have a child and take maternity leave. After juggling for a while I take a career break. A few years and exams later I find the bar is no better and I am edged out of the market as interviewees think my time-out places me at a disadvantage. Now I keep up with cpd and practise for free and that is for the benefit of the public, not the profession.
