Fear appears to be stalking every facet of the UK legal system at this time, so that we have the prospect of:

1 rigid litigation procedures making London increasingly unattractive in terms of international commercial litigation;
2 a privatised Land Registry, with enormous implications for the probity and integrity of a system of Land Registration which hitherto has been at the very centre of the nation's most precious assets;
3 a Russian style criminal justice system with centuries of jurisprudence being discarded in dogmatic fashion almost overnight;

4 a North Korean system of secret hearings;

5 fine probation services being corrupted by the imposition of profit as the primary driver

6 dumbed down Powers of Attorney greatly increasing the possibility of fraud.

The list is almost endless and represents a considerable amount of raw material which could be exploited by the leaders of the profession.

Will they?
