Please put aside the pros and cons about legal aid for a minute. Listen to what HHJ Bellamy is saying:

‘If this case is at all illustrative of the way the LAA normally discharges its responsibilities then that is deeply troubling.’

That is exactly how the LAA is now conducting its operation. It is inefficient, incompetent and not fit for purpose. The LAA is a penny-pinching organisation and will stoop to any depth to save costs e.g. mileage payments for travelling to courts.
