It is my firm belief that there is no such thing as 'probation' as we know it, there is no such as 'duty' in the profession as we know it. The two pillars of the justice sytem work in their self-interest. We have seen systematic failures in probation being outsourced to the private sector for it fails in its prime duty to rehabilitate offenders with two thirds of all prisoners re-offending after release. We have seen the profession fail in its duty to ensure it represents the interest of the client as opposed their fees.

Unless we have a system where probation live up to its prime noble objectives going back over 100 years, unless the porfessions defends its clients as s/he would do him/herself; we will continue to witness a malaise in the justice system devoid of all values standing up for more funding as opposed to people's rights and duties. A justice system that stands up for the few not the many and certainly not all is indeed a sorry state for justice like the Ritz is open to all judges, magistrates all the same.
