I believe we are overthinking the cleverness and deviousness of our political masters here. Reduce legal aid = save money with bonus of removing access to justice from those tiresome poor and middle income people who appear to believe they have a right to it..... 2 Increase court costs = increase government revenue, with bonus of removing access to justice from those tiresome poor and middle income people who appear to believe they have a right to it but decided to go down fighting their own corner..... 3 Exploit the legal profession for all it is worth by telling them how out of touch they are and how money grabbing they are and how unprofessional they will appear if they take action to protest etc. Oh and don't forget we are all in this together, or at least the people outside the palace of Westminster are in it, but I think our 'it' smells a lot worse than our political masters 'it'. So the goal is simple, increase government revenue and confine justice to those deemed suitable to deserving of it as determined by the politicians, and we know their judgement and integrity is always impeccable and beyond reproach.
