I know someone who was a compliance officer for one of the biggest firms in the North. He couldn't believe what the firm had been getting away with. The SRA came in and tinkered around the edges. He said if they'd known what they were doing they should have closed the firm down. They are still operating and even bigger now following a merger. My friend had the sense to jump ship.
