The comment posted on 23rd April 2014 – “the spiv economy” strikes a chord with me. We all get cold called at home, and I go along with them to find out the who is behind the calls. Every cold call that I get about my car accident ends up with a firm of solicitors. I have the recordings of all the calls, so that any regulator who is not sure how it works can hear how the cold calling starts, and how the call appears to be sanitised through what appears to be some other organisation, perhaps a claims management company, before one ends up with the firm of solicitors. Through the recordings one can hear how the solicitors try to get around LASPO and the Jackson reforms. All this when the Solicitors Regulation Authority says that solicitors must “Act with integrity” and “Behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in you and in the provision of legal services”. As a member of the public it has taken away my confidence in solicitors.
