The system of criminal justice has to be fundamentally overhauled with the choice made between either a PDS or examining magistrates or a combination of both.

There should be no place for highly-paid silks or trials conducted as if they were civil cases with thousands of pages of evidence grossly out of proportion with what is required and in fact a simple ploy to inflate costs.
