The reason A and E consultants should not be instructed is that they have no expertise in the progress of whiplash injuries, particularly minor ones. They may see patients immediately post accident, but they do not follow them up and cannot reasonably give a prognosis.

Orthopods , Gps and physios see these patients all the time. They are the appropriate experts.
