"appropriate training at every level throughout the firm is orchestrated, met, recorded and available for inspection "

More micromanagement of independent businesses by another army of bureaucrats ?

The definition of 'appropriate' being determined by someone with no stake in the business other than seeing it as a milch cow for career building ?

No thanks.

Good solicitors create and maintain themselves automatically without coercion or supervision and poor solicitors are immune to coercion or supervision due to their lack of ability and aptitude.

External attempts to force up the quality of solicitors overall just adds to the total cost base for firms without any measurable benefit to anyone except the regulator.

Leave it to the market to filter out low quality. The consumer is more perceptive than the regulators give credit for and perceptive consumers do not want to pay more in order to support a misguided and useless attempt to force up the quality of the less capable practitioners.

Let solicitors and consumers interact freely to each find their own levels of acceptable cost and quality with regulation limited to restraining only the more substantial abuses recognised by contract law and criminal law.
