Firstly I think that competition is healthy and if dispute resolution solicitors (and other forms of litigation solicitor across the board) have to pull their socks up and fight for the work that is surely a good thing
Secondly I never cease to be saddened by the vituperative and abusive attitude towards solicitors of some of the posters on this blog. I am sorry that those persons have had such horrendous experiences of solicitors that they feel that they have to vent their spleen in that way.
Thirdly surely it is not constructive for solicitors and Counsel to be at each other's throats over this or any other issue. In the main (certainly vis a vis the government) our interests appear to be similar
Finally I ask myself: will Direct Access Counsel be held to account under the CPR and Mitchell in the event that they turn up on the day of the Hearing with their skeleton argument and authorities, draft proposed pleadings etc as I have experienced twice recently (although NOT with Direct Access Counsel to be fair)

and to those who believe its cowardly to post as "anon" maybe your jobs are cast in concrete
