While I also wince when I see the full burka, I do believe a person is entitled to wear what they like, even a Mickey Mouse outfit, in public subject to showing one's face in certain places (school if one is a teacher; in court, to validate identity etc). People wearing unusual dress (which I consider the burka to be in this country) should expect to be stared at in the street and possibly exposed to ridicule/comment.

Does the French law mean that full face motor-cycle helmets are unlawful?
