I think it is an absolute disgrace. In a tolerant society people should be free to practise their religious beliefs provided that in so doing they do not harm others. If a muslim woman wants to practise her faith by wearing the burqa in a public place then the state should have no right to interfere. Clearly, if a person wearing a burqa is supected of alleged involvement in a criminal offence, for example, then it would only be proper for that individual to be questioned by the authorities. Under the guise of national security there should not be an outright ban on wearing the burqa.
