I well remember the ballyhoo surrounding the Woolf reforms but that part which said the courts would no longer be deciding cases on their merits must have passed me by. The same goes for the Jackson reforms.

If such a fundamental change in the way the judiciary do their jobs was really the intention they were surely duty bound to make it very plain.
