Solicitors can complain all they want - McKenzie Friends are here to stay so long as solicitors' fees remain out of reach for most ordinary people. As the market evolves, more and more people with some legal training (e.g. the thousands who have done the LPC but can't get training contracts) will become involved, set up a credible self regulatory framework and offer a service that will be useful both to litigants and judges. Solicitors can either see the writing on the wall and reconsider their business models or continue to bury their heads in the sand until they have no more clients.
