I agree with what you say
My point simply is that the profession has not put up a cohesive or collective defence and allowed the Govt to frame the terms of the debate. The debate we should have had had has not been aired

Lawyers react to a call for collective action like a herd of cats and for many their response is generated by self-interest. This is demonstrated by the 'outrage' on here with regards to the referral fees ban when LASPO was mooted with howls about 'access to justice' but there was very little discussion on the impact of access to justice when the legal aid cuts proposed in the bill -or the changes to the criminal justice system before it- were implemented.

This is an administration that doesn't 'do' detail- shown to our cost by the rushed implementation of Jackson and the shambles that has followed - knowing that, the profession could have made a better fist of seizing the headlines and the argument
All this review by committee is simply closing the stable door after the horse
