When I entered the profession by starting 5 years articles in 1959 the minimum educational requirement was 5 O levels at the same sitting including Latin and English. The conveyancing clerks knew more about conveyancing than the partners and in my post qualification firm the conveyancing clerk knew more about leasehold than most partners in London! Your correspondents should stop being so precious! Expertise is what the profession sells and it does not necessarily have to come from a degree.
