are we going from one extreme to another?
1. judges so often drawn from the ranks of barristers not generally famed for a bedside manner in dealing directly with people
2. the state sponsored social services infantantalising people in the manner in which they patronise them at the other end of the scale
3. in between are solicitors who have been dealing directly with people and their problems for hundreds of years marrying up the law with real live people - solicitors are fast being deleted from the landscape
4. litigants in person who will have nothing in between 1. & 4. except Tom dick and Harriette McKenzie, mediation (reserved work for retired persons under category 1 above) and Co-op stamps
