I cannot believe this article! It is disrespectful.

Not all solicitors and lawyers want to work in city firms in London. The thought that the women in the article are doing something wonderful and extraordinary by having a job in London and doing it well is laughable. I am glad they are happy with their careers, but so are lots of women around the country.

I am in my early thirties and a partner in my firm, which I have been since my late twenties. Two good friends in law, both in their early thirties, have been a partner in her firm since her late twenties and a sole practitioner with her own firm respectively. We have achieved what we wanted in our careers because we worked for it, like a lot of other women with this career. All this talk of a 'glass ceiling' is a little condescending when if you want that position and work for it there is no ceiling.

We juggle work and family just like our male counterparts. I do not expect to be treated any different to them because I am a women as they do not expect to be treated any differently for being men.

And for the record, since it seems to matter to the writer of the article, I generally do not wear heels in my office.
