It's not bullying. He annoyed the judge by giving evidence (rather than asking questions) during the trial and by being inappropriately dressed, which he was. He can wear a solicitor's gown and a short wig. He cannot adorn the gown with badges and ribbons. It is pretty obvious that doing so is likely to get the judge's back up, which is hardly a sensible thing to do.

The judge should have told Blacker off in chambers: the fact that he did so in public demonstrates just how angry the judge was with him.

Styling yourself "Dr the Right Honourable Lord Harley of Counsel" and calling your opponent an" ignorant cretin" is not likely to enhance your standing (or help level the playing field between barristers and solicitor advocates): see Barrister Blogger.

Now that Blacker has opened this can of worms by dressing in the manner which he did, I am more interested in whether the SRA is checking that Blacker has the reams of qualifications/honours which he lists on his websites. What qualifications/honours did he list in his application for admission to the Roll in 2010? Why can't the Gazette do a bit of investigative journalism and look into that? If it all checks out, fine.
