Why the changes?

Why don't the SRA just enforce the existing regulations against solicitors that abuse the conveyancing system to suit themselves?

If a solicitor is acting for the client and the lender, forges all the paperwork to show one amount to the client and another higher amount to the lender, obtains double the mortgage funds the client asks for, keeps half for themselves and then tries to take the clients property to benefit personally then why can they not be prosecuted?

And, if the solicitor has done nothing wrong, as he claims, then why not just release the client files to the client upon request instead of lying through their teeth to keep them?

Is there anyone out there that can explain?

Is it any wonder nobody trusts solicitors or the SRA?
