There is no particularly appreciate place to make this comment, but in today's Daily (so it must be right) Telegraph financial pages a headline reads "SRA relaxes rules to make 'Tesco law' more inviting." The gist of the article is that ABSs have an easier regulatory compliance regime.

A friend of mine said this weekend that 'you only have to turn up to your finals to get a third class degree'. She will soon be saying that you only need GCSE law to be approved as an ABS.

"How low can you get, Monica?" President Clinton is supposed to have asked. "How low do you want me Mr President?" she is alleged to have replied. How low will the president of our Law Society drag this profession, right to the bottom? We are not much above the waterline as it is.
