The entries above show the absolute mess that we have got ourselves into. Granted we have had a supine leadership unstreetwise and lacking boldness.
I tried to get LS to stand up to Santander and say we are all not going to pay to be on their panel but dear Des said we wouldn't stick together and feared it might be illegal . Au contraire. He didn't accept my contention that the lenders take advantage of their market dominance and the asymmetry of their relationship with firms of solicitors and should be referred to the Competition and Markets Authority.
Now with the unfolding Premier Food Pay to Stay scandal such unsavoury practices are coming under the microscope . About time and just the tip of the iceberg. Both the Minister and Shadow Minister for Business have gone on record in last 24 hours to say the practice is quite wrong. Is it too much to hope that LS might raise this issue and fight for us?
Certainly solicitors could make their voices known and send an email to their MP or LS or Cable or Hancock the Minister and Shadow. Better to stand up and be counted rather than grumbling mumbling into our beards( no sexism intended - come on ladies- make your views known). When do we stop being cowardly and apathetic ?- when the high street solicitor is no more? Notice the excellent entry above "formerlyinpractice" doesn't give his or her name. Do we go to our graves to the soft refrain of "best not make a fuss"
Remember at least the suppliers to Premier Foods are being paid by PF. Solicitors do the ever- increasing work for the lenders for free with full liability. What should be an overhead of their business is in fact a profit - centre. And we are supposed to be intelligent!

Whilst making your view known do not forget contributing to the consultation now in play as to whether the Legal Ombudsman should be able to accept 3rd party complaints against solicitors.
Another crackpot idea dreamt up by a clueless consumer body . A smidgeon of common sense is enough to reveal its idiocy
Keeping ones own client happy is one thing but to keep everybody else happy as well? Those other people having differing ( sometimes opposite) interests to the client. Please!
It's on the table Folks so come on let's not sleepwalk into another disaster apathetically and then moan after
