I don't believe the answer is to publicise family proceedings, which in my opinion is a violation of the child's privacy. The cloak of secrecy and mystery can disappear for older children when they become involved in the court process themselves by perhaps meeting the judge, asking questions and seeing who makes decisions about their lives. It is always sad and concerning when cases cannot be resolved outside of court and meeting judges will not be appropriate in all cases but for some it reduces fear of the unknown significantly and far better this approach then making the public aware of their already difficult circumstances.
