Mick C, I bow to your greater experience in such matters, but so much about Maxwell was dodgy, if not downright criminal, that nothing along those lines would surprise me. He was bully of the worst kind and heaven help anyone who tried to stand in his way. His sons were petrified of him, as were his employees, his bankers and no doubt his lawyers. God alone knows why, apart from the financial hold he had over them.

And in the end he turned out to be broke. Hence his suicide.
