It's not simply the failure of Capita to send interpreters on time or at all, its also the quality of them. Its a regular occurrence now for a party in court to pick up the fact the interpreter isn't translating properly-in one case in Leics Crown Ct ,it was the judge who rumbled the interpreter. This week the interpreter in a case I was in breached his duty of confidentiality by telling me some of what was said by a witness to the CPS lawyer in the witness room. He also try to bully the witness- a vulnerable lady in a domestic violence case -into accepting him when he did not speak her first language. I'd rather instruct Arthur Daly myself. VAT's all round!
