I am amazed at this decision.
In NSW there is a requirement for a minimum 10 hours pa , unless you are an accredited specialist solicitor, in which case the requirement is 20 hours pa
It is a costly exercise, but here there are many providers and so considerable choice; and the fees are going down : as little as AUD$55 per hour ; or some societies like the City of Sydney Law Society of which I am the Vice President, provide a choice of 35 hours at the cost of only $AUD150 (say 290 pounds) pa
We can attend seminars on line or purchase and view seminars electronically
When they introduced it some years back, some in the profession complained.
I think there are may benefits and the only negative aspect is the cost : they are tax deductable and most employers pay the fees for their employed solicitors.
