As another CN specialist I don't agree that all cases under £100k shouldn't be pursued - we need to go back to basics and understand the claims actually mean more than the money to an individual client; given all of the recent scandals in the NHS, they are currently the only independent check upon the £100bn pa taxpayer-funded NHS and as such their importance goes beyond the value of each case which we have become fixated upon. In these cases justice can serve a much wider public purpose. The Government abused its power when it restricted funding and therefore the opportunity for people to question the NHS it funds and controls. Budgeting will never work for CN for the reasons the article sets out - until we see a budget from a Defendant which has a realistic hourly rate in it, we have nowhere to build from.
