In five years of running my own firm I have had nil complaints and have never had to reduce any invoices and so i just do not buy some of the comments here. You do not have to have complaints.

Maybe i am too cheap and yet I make a very good living so I do not think it is this.

The problem is I suggest failure to keep the client informed of costs and trying to charge for every 6 minute unit. If I look at some bills rendered by solicitors it is easy to see why there are complaints - charging for every 15 second call when the phone i is engaged or you leave a message maybe permitted but it creates bad feeling and bad value for money.

Do a good job, charge a sensible fee, let the client know they are getting value for money and they return time and time again. Be flexible in your billing - there are occasions to charge for every minute and occasions not to.
