Yet more evidence that Grayling and his colleagues in government have lost touch with one British value, fairness. A conviction following a not guilty plea results in the payment of a 'court fee' but no reciprocal award if you are acquitted. the system is seriously out of kilter. Pity is, a change of government is unlikely to see this kind of oppressive legislation repealed. Politicians have known for years that there are no votes in justice and, politicians no longer see themselves as owing a duty to the whole country.
