'There is no minimum period individuals must have worked in the legal profession for to qualify this way but they must have achieved the necessary standards as laid down by the academic and vocational stages.'

Why have a minimum 2 year training contract then (ignoring the fact that you can apply to have it reduced by 6 months). Surely if a paralegal is trying to demonstrate the same skills/experience as a trainee solicitor then it seems logical that this can only be demonstrated after a minimum of 2 years experience.

I have a feeling that the SRA may have a unofficial minimum period of experience that they look out for from applicants.

Other than that, it does seem like a particularly rigorous application process - the application form alone brings on a headache.
