The solution is easy-if we must have fixed costs, set them at a more reasonable figure to allow the right grade of lawyer to do the job AND review them annually. The old predictable costs regime did not increase from inception in 2003, portal costs actually decreased and the fixed PI litigation costs introduced in July 2013 have not been reviewed almost 2 years on.
Of course you can always charge the client on a solicitor own client basis AND take the full success fee, we couldn't possibly receive any criticism for that now could we?
