Terry, now the annual trend appears to be 3,750 pages of legislation per annum in place of the 250 p a 1900-1990. How can any practising lawyer possibly keep up? MPs themselves say they do not have the time even to read what they are voting on. It is chaos. How those who teach the law stay up-to-date I cannot say..

I have heard that between 1997 and 2010 the number of criminal offences increased from 8,000 to 12,000! Before long every human activity will either be compulsory, or a criminal offence.When HIPS were introduced it even became a criminal offence to put your own home on the market without a HIP, or one in the pipeline anyway. Why?
