As far as I know, the Society of Professional McKenzie Friends is ''self'' regulated (not externally regulated. SRA regulates Solicitors, BSB regulates the Barristers, OISC regulates Immigration Advisors etcetra..............list is endless).
The Bar Council should have said ''....individuals who may be........'', (instead of) saying ''........individuals who are unregulated etc'' . It's a careless statement made by the Bar Council as it is priming the market-place & sending out the wrong message to the public.
If someone is practicing as a MF & is not part of the Professional McKenzie Friends Society certainly doesn't mean they are ''rogue'' - precisely because there is no law that prohibits them from offering services to the public & therefore no criteria to judge against. Therefore whoever is not part of that Society (I would assume) is not actually rogue unless that word is defined in an Act of Parliament.
