I find it interesting that when a sensitive issue arises most (honest) people go anonymous (and I will do the same as otherwise I'll be Tim Hunted!). Two facts; men did not decide that only women can give birth, it's a fact of life; and don't let's kid ourselves that maternity leave doesn't cause huge problems for small firms. Social justice demands that we try and find a compromise, but it shouldn't lean too far one way or the other - it should recognise the value of women but also have regard to the interests of business. My instinct is that we have leant too far towards the protection of women, and, given that, why are we surprised that some firms prefer to employ men? As usual, we fail to consider the downside of our good intentions. Ok, come and get me.
