Who will be elligible for pro bono work?Will it be limited to those on benefits?What type of work will be elligible?Conveyancing wills divorce?If it is in relation to housing, debt and benefits I am sorry but we had to pack in that work when legal aid was withdrawn.Most firms have no expertise in those areas.I doubt their insurers would agree to cover them.Has anyone thought this through?
It might have been a good idea if we were still a profession and not expected to operate as a business.However we are now expected to compete with banks will writers accountants and various unregulated entities for work.At the very least they should also be required to work pro bono.
I have not read the report and it may address these issues.However I very much doubt it.
