I fundamentally fail to understand the efficiency of hot-desking for the individual fee-earner.

I get paper-less and as far as possible I like to work paperless, but why would not having an assigned desk be of benefit to me?

I do not want to come into the office in the morning and have the stress of finding a desk to work at. Add to this the attendant office-politics that inevitably go with it (I've worked in offices where it felt like highschool) and I just cannot see what the actual benefit is, beyond the partners/directors getting to save money on a bit of office space.

Stop the double-speak. If the aim is to save money by getting rid of notionally underused desks (and damn the consequences when 100% of staff are in) fair enough, lets talk about that. To suggest that this is some sort of great new thing for staff is disingenuous at best.
