Thanks for that Martin and yes I seem to be fully mended now. On 3 September I am off back to Friedrichshafen to collect my car and caravan (I was not allowed to drive home) to resume my Magical History Tour (Dunkirk, Wormhout, Waterloo, Bastoigne, Sedan, Verdun etc). At least the delay will enable me to watch Amy Boulden of this town play in the Evian LPGA match there and, possibly, the Solheim Cup in Heidelberg if selected. Can't wait. I watched her finish 9th at Turnberry two weeks ago. Fabulous entertainment.

On 15 December 1976 Denis Healey delivered an emergency budget cutting £2.5bn in public spending as a condition of a $3.9bn IMF loan. We were just another Greece at the time. And they could hardly put up taxes any more as income tax was 83% with investment income surcharge of 15% making a total payable of 98%. The irony is that a lower rate of tax tends to produce a higher yield. But if Corbynomics were ever to be reintroduced we would become like Greece, again. I am beginning to realise that when you reach a certain age, I am 66, you see things happening, and mistakes made, which you saw 30-40 years ago. The net result of this is that we just cannot afford to treat all comers on the NHS and those who suggest we do are ill-informed.
