A fact of life, eh? I've been thinking about other things that were facts of life, though that now no longer are. I've come up with polio, slavery, economic and political disenfranchisement, gender inequality as a matter of law, small pox, the Osmonds, smog, the C of E marrying 13 year old girls to 15 year old boys, workhouses, cholera and the tipping of chamber pots into the street.

Just because something is 'a fact of life' does not mean that it ought to be tolerated.
