I don't see anything wrong in principle with charging people who plead guilty or are found guilty in court. What I do object to is the bureaucratic train wreck that has followed; a victim surcharge always has to be imposed, prosecution costs don't, you can deem everything time served but not just the CCC...

Why not get rid of CPS costs and the victim surcharge and roll it all into the CCC which can be deemed served by virtue of time spent in custody or not imposed at all if it's in the interests of justice to do so?
