David Carrod - Litigants in person in PI, family cases, etc. are often criticized by Courts as, through no fault of their own, they do not have the legal knowledge nor the research time required to deal with a case and to make a PI claim by themselves would be a daunting task for most people.

The Portal fees are not going to make 'ambulance chasers' rich unless they deal en masse. Most firms now dealing with bulk RTA work are insurer owned in any event. I am surprised that the media have not commented on this.

Access to justice has been restricted in other areas of the law due to withdrawal of Legal Aid, the increase of the Small Claims limit for non-PI claims, etc. and this just continues on that theme.

I agree with the principle of the Small Claims increase here and would suggest that perhaps an increase to £2K would knock some of the most minor RTA whiplash claims out of the equation rather than £5K, which would also encompass all manner of injuries.
