Legal Zoom have always been the ‘alternative’ to a lawyer, so to see them buying a law firm is a fascinating development. Applying their resources, technology, brand etc to this idea of a ‘next generation’ law firm is a much more worrying proposition than ‘use us instead of a law firm’. Of all the new entrants, ABS’s etc, my money says this is the one that will have the kind of impact that has been talked about ever since the LSA.
