I used to work at a QS firm. It was always my impression that the biggest problem with it was that getting a bunch of law firms to work together and agree on stuff was the proverbial herding of cats. This sounds much smarter - owning the firm gives the kind of control to implement change that was sorely missing (in my view at least) in QS. QS might not have had the impact it was billed but from my dealings with it, I would have to admit that Holt was an extremely smart guy - a really inspirational, innovative type of leader - and under this kind of structure, I could see this having a real impact. Fortunately, my new firm mainly does crime and somehow I don't see LegalZoom ending up there!
