I have weighed the evidence very carefully as a solicitor and partner in private practice for many years now. When we strip away all the prejudices against the few bad apple IPs out there, at the end of the day there is no doubt this decision is a massive false step for a government which already has an appalling record on access to justice. I have met Mr Sykes and found him as rational and intelligent as professionals come. It is Lord Justice Jackson whose views are founded in fantasy.
