Anyone who thinks justice has ever been 'free' is naive. The problem isn't the level of fee- the problem is the level of service even after payment of the fee.

The more paid in fees the higher the expectation, whereas the reverse is what is currently happening in the justice system. Higher fees are being charged but for longer waiting, more unanswered calls by court staff, ridiculous waiting times for listing, unacceptable errors and delays caused by failing to simply read letters properly.

I don't think the increases will make a jot of difference to most litigants not least as those successful in commercial litigation will recover their fees in any event from the opponent.

The greater frustration for this litigator is that they won't make a jot of difference to the service provided either and that makes it unacceptably difficult to explain these increases to clients who understandably expect more.
