I don't think for one minute there is time enough for a PR claim to get the public to like lawyers, as a profession we have done nothing on that front for as long as I can remember, but an immediate campaign highlighting how the ABI alone is writing government policy for its own self serving ends at the expense of all injured victims of negligence just might garner support. The public may not like us but they sure as hell can't trust insurers. The Law Soc should be mounting a media campaign along the lines of the recent "don't let an insurer or the government mug you" - get spending some of our membership fees to help us rather than offering a "robust reply" which no one will see or read! Stand up and show some serious fight for a change otherwise what on earth is your purpose?!
